MEETING
The Omni Austin Hotel Downtown in Austin, Texas
February 28 - March 1, 2008
The Opening Session on Thursday, February 28, will begin promptly
at 3:00 pm (note the earlier start time) with remarks by Austin
Mayor Will Wynn, who will welcome State Capital Group attendees
to Austin and will comment on various initiatives mayors have taken
across the country with respect to greening and energy efficiency
that will impact your clients. His remarks will lead directly into
the Opening Session on "Climate Change: Environmental and Water
Supply Impact," featuring Buddy Garcia, Chairman of
the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and Ronald A.
Kaiser, Professor of Water Law & Policy at Texas A&M
University.
Several more outstanding speakers have confirmed their participation
in the meeting. On Friday morning, William J. Schillling, General
Counsel of the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations,
will join the Labor and Employment Law practice section meeting and
Brian Rider, Senior Real Estate Counsel for Forestar Real
Estate Group, Inc., will join the Real Estate panel discussion.
On Friday afternoon, Thomas H. Welch, Jr., Vice President-Legal,
General Corporate Counsel of Dell, Inc., will join panelists Morris
Davis, General Counsel of Temple Inland, and Gilbert
Herrera of Herrera Partners for a panel discussion on "Restructuring/Reorganizing
Companies to Deliver Increased Shareholder Value."
The State Capital Group has arranged an exciting activity on Friday
morning for spouses/guests interested in touring Austin by
land and by sea. The narrated tour, hosted by Austin
Duck Adventures, will last approximately 90 minutes and will cover
Austin highlights including the State Capitol Building, Governor's
Mansion, the University of Texas campus, music-rich Sixth Street,
historic Congress Avenue and a 15-20 minute tour on scenic Lake Austin.
