The State Capital Group's 2007 Annual Meeting will be held September 27-29 in Chicago, a powerhouse business center and sophisticated city of friendly people.

The Annual Meeting kicks off on Thursday afternoon with a panel discussion focusing on procedural law issues arising in international commercial arbitrations. A panel of speakers from Latin America, Europe, Asia and the United States will demonstrate how procedural formats differ in various jurisdictions around the world and provide practical tips to help you represent clients in international arbitrations. Following the opening session, gather with State Capital Group colleagues around the world for a welcoming reception at the Fairmont Chicago and then join friends for dutch-treat dinners or special networking dinners at some of Chicago's finest eateries.

On Friday morning, marketing guru Bob Weiss of Alyn-Weiss and Associates will present a session on "CLOSING," in which he will outline best practices to help you get work and referrals from client entertainment, articles, speeches, meeting, seminars, and attending trade groups and other association meetings. Learn how to turn time spent one-on-one with client prospects and at meetings into new legal work. This practical session is sure to provide you with helpful tactics to "get the business in the door."

Practice section meetings throughout the day on Friday will focus on such diverse topics as Labor/Pension, Public Finance and International Aspects of Airline Insolvencies; Global M&A Work; Global Warming; Issues in Valuing and Lending Against Intellectual Property Assets; Addressing Distressed Real Estate--Using Traditional and Non-traditional Lender, Development, Marketing, and Government Approaches for Solving Real Estate Problems; and Legal Issues Arising with Electronic Medical Records. Meeting sessions will continue on Saturday morning with meetings of the state government relations section and international practitioners and regional discussion groups from around the world.

Bankruptcy/insolvency practitioners won't want to miss the annual gathering of State Capital Group bankruptcy colleagues at the Annual Meeting. The Bankruptcy Section has planned a special meeting track with sessions dealing with bankruptcy, insolvency and creditors' rights issues, and bankruptcy practitioners will gather on Thursday evening for a special bankruptcy networking dinner at one of Chicago's top-notch restaurants.

The ever-popular "Roll Call of the States, Provinces and Countries" will take place on Friday afternoon, followed by a reception and dinner at the amazing Art Institute of Chicago. During the Friday evening event, attendees can participate in a private tour of the Art Institute of Chicago's world-renowned collection of American art, featuring works by George Bellows, Mary Cassatt, Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, Charles Demuth, Marsden Hartley, Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe, Charles Sheeler, and Grant Wood.
