2005 MIDWINTER MEETING
MARCH 3-5, 2005
MIAMI, FLORIDA
The State Capital Group's 2005 Midwinter Meeting
will be held March 3-5 in Miami, Florida, a dynamic international
city with a concentration of major US and international corporations'
regional operating offices.
As North Americas gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean,
Miami is the perfect venue for highlighting the capabilities of the
State Capital Group's member firms in the Latin American and Caribbean
regions. The Latin American/Caribbean Business Briefing
on Thursday is a special luncheon program featuring short presentations
by some of the State Capital Groups Latin American and Caribbean
member firms about the relevant business and legal issues in their
jurisdictions. The luncheon program, co-sponsored by Miami member
firm Adorno & Yoss, is open to all interested attorneys
and clients, but pre-registration is required.
The Midwinter Meeting officially kicks off at 3:30 p.m. at the Thursday
Opening Session, which will feature a panel discussion focusing on
the importance of Latin America to US and European businesses. Featured
panelists include Samuel Reeves, Assistant General Counsel
of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., and Michael Zellner, Publisher of
Latin Trade Magazine.
On Friday, meeting attendees will gather for a session on law firm
practice management and then for various practice section meetings,
focusing on timely issues in intellectual property law, labor and
employment law, business and commercial transactions, environmental
law, healthcare and insurance law, and alternative dispute resolution.
Saturday sessions will include regional discussion groups and practice
section meetings, including an international law session focusing
on best practices for due diligence on new clients, firm
policies on intake of new clients and other methods being used by
firms to deal with the growing problem and growing regulation of money-laundering
issues. Following a buffet luncheon on Saturday, attendees can explore
the many attractions of South Beach, go golfing or join an outing
to the Everglades.
