March 8-10, 2007

The State Capital Group's 2007 U.S. Midwinter Meeting will be held
from March 8-10 in Nashville, Tennessee. This meeting will focus on
an issue of current concern to corporate clients: internal and government
investigations of alleged corporate wrongdoing.
The meeting will officially kick off at 3:30 on Thursday with an opening
session titled "Internal and Government Investigations: Insights and
Practical Tips for Attorneys Representing Healthcare Providers" --
and will feature an impressive panel of speakers, including Wally
Dietz and Allen Overby, co-chairs of the Internal Investigations
Practice at Bass, Berry & Sims; Ron Crawford from the
Securities Exchange Commission's Atlanta Office; and a representative
from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
On Friday morning, we have planned a special business development
session led by Bill Flannery, President of WJF Institute, leaders
in teaching lawyers to establish and develop more profitable relationships
with existing and new clients. Other practice section meetings on
Friday will focus on such diverse topics as "Educating Directors in
a Post Sarbanes-Oxley Era," and State Land Conservation Funds that
have been created to buy and preserve timberland.
The Public Utilities/Energy/Communications Law section will hear from
Guy Hicks, General Counsel-Tennessee for Bellsouth Telecommunications,
Inc., who will discuss the recent AT&T/BellSouth merger, and the Intellectual
Property section is assembling a panel of distinguished speakers to
participate in a roundtable discussion on copyright issues and intellectual
property initiatives in the music/recording industry.
In addition to all the substantive programs, there will be plenty
of networking and social activities during the U.S. Midwinter Meeting.
On Thursday, the State Capital Group's welcome reception at the Loews
Vanderbilt Hotel will be followed by Dutch-Treat dinners at some of
Nashville's
finest restaurants. We are also organizing a special
networking dinner for all real estate attorneys who are planning
to attend the Nashville meeting so they can get to know one another
better and begin discussing joint marketing efforts.
The Friday luncheon program will feature a presentation by Tennessee
Story Tellers, world-renowned storytellers from the National Storytelling
Festival, acclaimed as one of the Top 100 Events in North America,
and which has sparked a renaissance of storytelling across the country.
Friday evening, meeting attendees and guests will gather at the Country
Music Hall of FameŽ and Museum, where they will enjoy a reception
sponsored by host firm Bass, Berry & Sims, tours of the museum
and dinner.
