Don't miss the 2008 Annual Meeting, filled with substantive meeting sessions that will provide insight and strategies for successfully navigating current legal issues, as well as plenty of networking opportunities and social activities to keep you in touch with your State Capital Group friends and colleagues from around the world.
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has been invited to kickoff the meeting on Thursday afternoon with welcoming remarks to the attendees. The opening session, beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday will focus on Hospitality and Resort Development and will discuss legal issues and financial strategies relating to the acquisition and development of these properties in today's economic and regulatory environment. The session will feature Steven H. Gold, Managing Director of Hotel Financial Strategies.
On Thursday night, attendees will gather for a Welcome Reception followed by Dutch-Treat dinners at local area restaurants. We are also arranging special networking dinners for Bankruptcy Practitioners and Real Estate attorneys; more details will follow.
Friday morning begins with a marketing/business development session followed by practice sections meetings throughout the day focusing on such diverse topics as Representing Insolvent and Failing Businesses; Digitization and Other Electronic IP Issues; Issues That Keep the Lenders Up at Night; Sustainable Development: Green Buildings and Infrastructure; and ADR in Construction Disputes.
Confirmed speakers for the various sessions include Frances Fiorillo, Senior Vice President of People and In-Flight Service, Virgin America Airways; Ian Gillis, Principal, Urban Community Partners LLC; Leanord Kam, Vice President and Loan Team Manager, Wells Fargo Mortgage, Inc.; Sandra Schirmang, Senior Director of Credit, Kraft Foods; Dick Stuyfzand, Legal Director of Orangina Group and Schweppes International Limited; and Arthur Perkins, Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP. Friday afternoon, attendees will gather for the ever-popular Roll Call of the States, Provinces and Countries and then head to historic San Francisco City Hall for an elegant dinner in one of San Francisco's most beautiful buildings.
