The
State Capital Group's 2005 Annual Meeting will be held September 22-24,
2005 in Toronto, Ontario. For early arrivals, the Annual Meeting will
begin at noon on Thursday with the Canadian Business Briefing Luncheon,
during which representatives of the State Capital Group's Canadian
member firms will highlight some issues relevant to international
investors and the primary legal and political issues that might affect
international businesses operating in the represented provinces.
The Annual Meeting officially begins at 3:30 pm on Thursday with an
Opening Session focusing on Toronto's role as an international mining
finance center. Speakers will include Tony Andrews of the Prospectors
and Developers Association of Canada, Elaine Ellingham, a former Mining
Leader for the Toronto Stock Exchange, and Deborah McCombe, the Chief
Mining Consultant of the Ontario Securities Commission.
Other practice sections throughout the Annual Meeting will focus on
timely issues in cross-border insolvencies, mining equity markets
and related financing topics, gainsharing and hospital-physician joint
ventures, electrical transmission matters, and international legal
and business opportunities in higher education.
