KING
NAMED STATE CAPITAL GLOBAL LAW FIRM GROUP CHAIR
WASHINGTON,
D.C. (October 8, 2004) - At the 2004 Annual Meeting, Nancy
M. King was named Chair of the State Capital Global Law Firm Group
for the 2004-2005 term. King is a shareholder and practices with the
commercial section of New Mexico firm Montgomery & Andrews,
P.A. King has served two years on the State Capital Group's Board
of Directors, and last year served as Secretary. King succeeds Cliff
Webster from Washington member firm Carney Badley Spellman,
P.S.
King has been recognized by the New Mexico Business Journal
and the New Mexico Business Weekly, among others, as one of
the state's most effective lobbyists. In addition to her substantial
lobbying practice before the New Mexico State Legislature and Governor's
Office, King also has an active administrative and regulatory practice.
In the commercial area, King represents a number of banks and other
lenders in regard to commercial transactions and loan documentation.
She has also represented clients in complex commercial and real estate
transactions and financing. King represented Southern Union Company
in regard to the sale of its Gas Company of New Mexico Division to
Public Service Company of New Mexico and represented Cobisa Corporation
in regard to the development of the first independent power project
by an exempt wholesale generator in New Mexico. King has also handled
major mineral, right-of-way and real property title examination projects
over the past twenty-five years for such clients as El Paso Natural
Gas Co., Burlington Resources, Koch Energy and Shell Pipeline Company.

King, who served in the Peace Corps in Panama, is fluent in Spanish
and has a commitment to the State of New Mexico. She is immediate
past president of the New Mexico Children's Foundation as well as
vice-president of the Governor's Litter Control Council. She is a
past chair of the New Mexico State Bar Business Law Section and the
former co-chair of the New Mexico Equal Access to Justice Fund, a
charitable campaign for the support of legal services programs. Over
the years, King participated in various conferences on statewide issues
such as Governor Bruce King's Committee on Goals for the Future of
New Mexico, the New Mexico Business Leaders' Conference, the New Mexico
Quality Education Conference, and New Mexico First Town Halls on Higher
Education, Tax, and Regional Trade. She also serves as a volunteer
mentor for the Santa Fe Public Schools.
King received her undergraduate degree from Washington State University
and graduated cum laude from the University of New Mexico School
of Law. She holds an "AV" rating by Martindale-Hubbell Law
Directory.
